Clanmil Housing Group – 40 Years of Fantastic Homes

One of Northern Ireland’s leading housing associations, Clanmil Housing is celebrating its 40th anniversary this month.

Since March 1977 Clanmil has been providing high quality, affordable homes for people who need them.  Today the organisation owns and manages more than 4,300 homes throughout Northern Ireland for families, older people and for those who need support and employs 260 people.

Clanmil has also embarked on an ambitious new homes development programme that will see some 1,800 additional homes provided, to rent or to buy, over the next 5 years.

Steve Amos, Chair of Clanmil joined the staff team today to mark the start of a series of events and initiatives to celebrate the association’s landmark birthday.  He said; “Today kicks off a series of celebration events to mark this major milestone in the life of Clanmil Housing.  So much has changed since 1977.  Back then our focus was on housing for older people. Over the past 40 years we’ve branched out into lots of new areas of housing and services and now Clanmil provides homes and support for a wide range of people including thousands of families.

“One thing that hasn’t changed is our passion for great homes and the people who live in them.  40 years on we continue to believe that everyone should have a comfortable, safe and affordable home within a vibrant and supportive community where they love living and can thrive.”

Over the coming months Clanmil will be celebrating with tenants, staff and stakeholders.

Steve continued;
“We want to say thank you to everyone who has worked hard and played a part in our success with an opportunity to join us in celebrating 40 years of fantastic homes. And while there will be lots of cake and fun, we’re determined that there will also be a legacy from this milestone. So we’ll also be launching a 40 Lasting Legacies programme that will provide work placements, apprenticeships, community action and small grants that we hope will leave a permanent mark on the communities we work in.”

“A social media campaign will run throughout the year telling the real life stories of people who live in our homes which shows the amazing diversity of our tenants.  We hope it also highlights the impact a great home has on everyone.”
