Why should you become a committee or board member for one of the Housing Associations?

Being a Board Member will provide a lot of satisfaction as you contribute to Northern Ireland's development both economically and socially.

You will be able to:

Generally, the time commitment is not onerous...usually one meeting per month (normally in the evening) as well as time to read the information prior to the meeting.

Still interested?

Contact us now to register your interest and we'll be in contact with you soon. Alternatively...

Download and read our information booklet (PDF 110.1k) and complete, in full, the application form in WORD 130k or PDF 121K and return it to NIFHA. Your details will be kept on NIFHA's confidential database which affiliated Housing Associations can access.

Please note, registering your interest is not the same as applying to become a shareholder of a housing association and is no guarantee you will ever become a housing association Board member.  Any association affiliated to the Federation will be at liberty to peruse the register but it will be up to the association to initiate any further action.  You may, of course, withdraw from the register at any time.

Read our BLOG: Get on Board in NI.

Joining the register is not the only way to become a housing association Board member.

You could apply for a share and, if approved, standing for election at the next Annual General Meeting of a housing association.  Associations may also co-opt a certain number of people (shareholders or non-shareholders) to their Boards as well.

Co-ownership Housing

If you are interested in becoming a shareholder in Co-Ownership Housing please read this PDF document or click here to visit their website for further information.
