Radius Housing helping Hospice

Radius Housing has announced Northern Ireland Hospice as their official Corporate Charity Partner for 2017-19. The housing association pledges to raise vitals funds to help support local people living with a life-limiting and terminal illness.

The housing association has already got their fundraising underway by completing the Hospice Walk in May, followed by a Big Lunch in June and are currently planning a number of fundraising events for tenants and staff of its 12,000 properties across Northern Ireland.

Radius Housing was formed with the merger of Helm Housing and FOLD in April this year. Both organisations have a long-standing history of fundraising for charitable causes, raising more than £83,000 in the last two years for charities such as Alzheimer’s Society, Headway, St John Ambulance, NI Children’s Hospice and the Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

Radius Chief Executive, John McLean commented: “The work of NI Hospice is extremely important and is valued by the families of those they work with. At Radius, we do much more than simply provide homes for people: we build communities and support many people in our specialist housing. We recognised that we could do more to support NI Hospice in their work in a small way by helping to raise funds.

“There has been a fantastic response from staff and tenants who have already shown their drive and commitment to raising record levels of funding in planning events for the next few months. We are all looking forward to the coffee mornings, bake sales, fun runs and carol services, and are delighted to be able to help such a worthy cause.”

Jonathan Lamberton, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Northern Ireland Hospice added: “We are delighted that Radius Housing has chosen NI Hospice as a Corporate Charity Partner. The staff has been so enthusiastic about the partnership, making us very excited about what we can achieve, not just through the 1,000 staff but also the 30,000 tenants, telecare and telehealth clients.

“The money raised through our partnership with Radius Housing will enable us to continue to provide specialist palliative care to local people living with a life-limiting and terminal illness”.

The next fundraising event Radius Housing will be supporting is the Sparkle Dash which takes place on August 6 in Giants Park, Belfast. Radius Housing will be the sponsor of the blue sparkle.
