The Northern Ireland Federation of Housing Associations (NIFHA) welcomes Alex Attwood as the new Minister for Social Development.As he takes over from Margaret Ritchie the Federation wishes Mr Attwood well in his new role. We also want to thank Ms Ritchie for her valuable contribution to affordable housing in Northern Ireland. She ensured housing was given the priority it deserves and worked tirelessly to keep it high on the political agenda.
Commenting on the appointment NIFHA’s Chief Executive, Chris Williamson, said: “The Federation’s relationship with Margaret Ritchie was excellent and we trust this will continue with her successor.
“We’ll seek a meeting with Mr Attwood at his earliest convenience. The provision of good quality, affordable housing in Northern Ireland is vital and ensuring an excellent working relationship with the new Minister and his Department continues is a priority.”
