Ark Housing has no intentions of resting on its laurels as the association celebrates its 30th anniversary.

At a recent reception marking their three decades of providing quality housing, Ark’s Acting CEO Jim McShane launched their 2017-2022 Corporate Strategy which outlines their aim to deliver up to 200 units of new build accommodation over the next five years and which explicitly sets out the organisation’s renewed commitment to growth.

“Ark’s focus will be on both urban and rural regeneration, working in partnership to ensure delivery of tangible sustainable benefits to the local community,” Mr McShane said at the launch.

Ark provides homes in North, West and South Belfast; South, East and North Down; Fermanagh and Antrim. These homes cater for a wide range of needs, including general families, single persons, older persons and homeless families, those with disabilities and those without. Ark also works with specialist partners to offer housing and support services to people recovering from mental illness, those with learning needs, and the frail elderly.

Ark Housing’s most recent development, Ravara House in Bangor, will accommodate up to 36 older persons in 24 self-contained apartments who require housing, care and support and who suffer from mild to moderate dementia. The scheme has been capital funded by Ark Housing in partnership with the Department for Communities and will be managed by the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust who, in partnership with the Supporting People Programme, will revenue fund the project.
