The Clanmil Housing Group, one of Northern Ireland’s leading housing associations, has announced the appointment of Steve Amos as Chair of the organisation.
Steve, who has been a member of the Clanmil Board of Management since 2011, takes the top role at the association which provides 3,500 high quality social and affordable homes throughout Northern Ireland for families and older people.
With almost 40 years experience in the banking and finance sector, Steve is set to lead Clanmil through the implementation of an ambitious three year strategy focusing on growth and community development.
In announcing Steve’s appointment Clare McCarty, Chief Executive of the Clanmil Group, said:
“With more demand for homes and increasing constraints on statutory funding, a major challenge for Clanmil is to find new funding sources that will support continued investment in social housing. Steve has brought invaluable experience and insight to our Board that has helped us continue to deliver great homes and services for our tenants and I am very much looking forward to working with him as Chair to drive forward the next phase in our development.”
Over the next three years, Clanmil plans to provide a further 2,000 much needed high quality homes that are as economical to live in as possible, as well as delivering on a strong commitment to engage with communities in which we work on initiatives that promote access to opportunities for employment and financial inclusion.
“I am delighted to take on this new role, leading Clanmil through a very exciting and challenging period. I have been very impressed by Clanmil’s focus on excellent customer service and the commitment of staff to making a positive impact on our tenants’ lives and I am looking forward to leading such a dedicated organisation.”
Steve, who lives in Holywood, Co. Down, takes over from Joan Baird who has retired after 4 and a half years as Chair of Clanmil. During Joan’s tenure Clanmil experienced significant growth, increasing its provision from 2,334 to 3,500 homes, and achieved and maintained the top assurance audit rating from the Department for Social Development in relation to its performance.
Steve runs a consultancy business advising small and medium sized businesses on their banking issues.
