Tenants from across Northern Ireland have come together at Apex’s head office in Derry~Londonderry for the association’s first Active Tenant Network Event.
At the event on 13th April, the group of “Active Tenants” were given the opportunity to receive training, share ideas and best practice with other like-minded tenants and housing staff.
The event kicked off with a focus group to review leaflets which Apex issue to new tenants, to ensure information is presented clearly and concisely. Apex’s Financial Inclusion Officer, Michael Lyttle, also delivered training outlining the variety of services he offers so that Active Tenants can now inform their communities on what is available.
Following lunch, the group took part in a lively discussion on future plans for their communities and shared success stories. Apex’s Community Involvement Co-ordinator, Rachael Power, had created an Active Tenant Toolkit, which was given to each person in the group to help support them in enabling their own communities.
Apex intends to run Active Tenant Network events on a regular basis to update participants on the progress that has been made and to support them in the work they are doing in their communities and show appreciation of their efforts. Such partnership working will help to ensure Apex communities are vibrant and caring places to live in.
Apex is very keen to see more tenants attend future events to ensure representation from all its housing schemes. For more information on how to become involved please contact Rachael Power on 028 7130 4800.
